ABOUT

Acrylic mastic ALFA SEALANT is used for sealing gaps in flexible and rigid wall structures as well as gaps and joints between rigid floor structures. It can also seal linear joints and gaps for specific support structures and substrates. Intumescent ALFA SEALANT expands under high temperature, creating a tight protective barrier. The maximum permissible width of the joint/gap is 100 mm. Movement ability of the ALFA SEALANT system is ≤ 7.5%.

Application ALFA SEALANT is intended to seal:

  • gaps in flexible and rigid wall structures
  • gaps in rigid floor structures
  • joints between the rigid floor structures
INSTALLATION
  1. Clean the surfaces thoroughly from grease and other contaminants before applying ALFA SEALANT mastic. The mastic should not be used on substrates that exude oils, softeners or solvents, grease and other contaminants.
  2. ALFA SEALANT is a water-based product. In situations where there is a risk of corrosion, some metal parts must be properly secured before they are installed.
  3. When you apply ALFA SEALANT on plasterboards, the edges may be moistened, or you can dilute ALFA SEALANT with water to prime surfaces.
  4. When you use ALFA SEALANT in empty floor slabs, smooth the fire seal, defined as unilateral, on the headliner’s side. Make sure that the concrete thickness below the void is sufficient to ensure appropriate thickness of the mortar, following the installation instructions. Otherwise, cylindrical voids should be filled with stone wool usually of the same thickness as the floor slabs. Possibly, an optional seal should be installed on both the roof and the headliner.
  5. Make sure that the sealed gap is wide enough to contain the required backing material. In practice, this may not be less than 10mm.
  6. When installing trim the material so that it fit tight into the gap and be pushed to the proper depth.
  7. Fill the gap with ALFA SEALANT to the required depth.
  8. Finish with a spatula, brush or knife.
  9. ALFA SEALANT can be painted with majority of emulsion paints.
  10. When sealing plasterboard shaft walls, seal only from the side that is exposed to fire.
