ABOUT

ALFA MORTAR is a dry white mixture consisting of inorganic fillers and perlite. After adding water, the mortar becomes easy to mix and seal service penetrations in walls and floors. ALFA MORTAR increases its volume by 1% during drying which ensures tight sealing of passing system components and connection with partition. ALFA MORTAR cures/dries quickly. After drying, it can be sanded or drilled. When dried, ALFA MORTAR is gray and white. It can be painted.

APPLICATION:

ALFA MORTAR is intended to seal service penetrations for:

  • PLASTIC PIPES
  • STEEL AND COPPER PIPES
  • SYNTHETIC RUBBER-INSULATED PIPES
  • SINGLE CABLES, CABLE BUNCHES AND TRAYS
  • VENTILATION DUCTS

as well as penetrations in plasterboard, masonry, concrete and reinforced concrete walls and floors.

INSTALLATION

1. In order to apply the mortar sweep away any material lying loose from the inner surface of the gap and surrounding areas. Faces may be wetted to improve binding.

2. If the support element is sealed, the hole must be reinforced. Please contact ALFASEAL GROUP in order to get more information.

3. Uninsulated metal pipes must be protected against corrosion with a primer/anti-corrosion agent.

4. When sealing penetrations in plaster walls, apply mortar flush to plaster surface on both sides.

5. When sealing penetrations in concrete or masonry partitions, sealing may be done flush to one of the two sides of the partition or in the middle.

6. Thickness of the seal must comply with the required fire resistance class. To achieve this, build the formwork with stone wool slabs having density of 160 kg/m3. All cavities must be filled with firestop acrylic sealant ALFA MASTIC.

7. Mix mortar and water thoroughly in correct proportions. Stir carefully to prevent lumps. Always add mortar to water, never the other way around.

8. Place the formwork in the sealed hole. After reaching the right consistency, fill the hole with mortar, making sure that the mortar seals all voids, including around the system. Push to get rid of air bubbles. Apply mortar until the desired thickness. Smooth the surface of the hole sealed.

9. When sealing plasterboard shaft walls, perform sealing only on one side.

The mortar should be exposed towards expected fire source.
