ABOUT

Firestop acrylic mastic ALFA MASTIC effectively fills gaps around pipes and cables in service penetrations, apertures and linear joints in plasterboard, masonry, concrete, reinforced concrete partitions.

ALFA MASTIC is an intumescent mastic sealant that expands on exposure to high temperature, preventing passage of fire, smoke and gas.

The width and depth of the sealing depends on the application.

In very humid places and highly movable apertures, use ALFA FLEXI MASTIC.

ALFA MASTIC is intended to seal penetrations for:

  • PLASTIC PIPES
  • STEEL AND COPPER PIPES
  • SYNTHETIC RUBBER-INSULATED PIPES
  • SINGLE CABLES, CABLE BUNCHES AND TRAYS
  • VENTILATION DUCTS
  • as well as gaps and linear joints in plasterboard, masonry, concrete, reinforced concrete walls and floors.

INSTALLATION
  1. Do not use mastic sealant, if the ambient temperature is below 5 °C.
  2. Clean the surfaces thoroughly from grease and other contaminants before applying the mastic. The mastic should not be used on substrates that exude oils, softeners or solvents, grease and other contaminants.
  3. ALFA MASTIC is a water-based product. In situations where there is a risk of corrosion, some metal parts must be properly secured before they are installed.
  4. When you apply ALFA MASTIC on plasterboards, the edges may be moistened, or you can dilute ALFA MASTIC with water to prime surfaces.
  5. When you use ALFA MASTIC in empty floor slabs, smooth the fire seal, defined as unilateral, on the headliner’s side. Make sure that the concrete thickness below the void is sufficient to ensure appropriate thickness of the mortar, following the installation instructions. Otherwise, cylindrical voids should be filled with stone wool usually of the same thickness as the floor slabs. Possibly, an optional seal should be installed on both the roof and the headliner.
  6. Make sure that the sealed gap is wide enough to contain the required backing material. In practice, this may not be less than 10mm.
  7. When installing trim the material so that it fit tight into the gap and be pushed to the proper depth.
  8. Fill the gap with ALFA MASTIC to the required depth.
  9. Finish with a spatula, knife or finger moistened with soap.
  10. ALFA MASTIC can be painted with majority of alkyd and emulsion paints.
  11. When sealing plasterboard shaft walls, seal only from the side that is exposed to fire.
