ABOUT

The firestop board ALFA FR BOARD consists of stone wool board with density of 150kg/m3 – coated on one side or on the both sides with acrylic intumescent ALFA COAT paint. The use of a particular type of board depends on the required fire resistance and the type of a partition. The set of products is suitable for fire retardant insulation of penetrations for steel and cooper pipes in walls and floors and combined penetrations with plastic pipes, cables and ventilation ducts. At normal temperature the board and the coat are elastic in order to enable thermic and mechanical movements of the system in penetrations. Weather conditions, vermin, moisture, mould, and oil do not affect those two products. They contain neither asbestos nor halogen. It is allowed to apply ALFA COAT on unpainted stone wool boards with proper thickness and density.

INSTALLATION

1. Prior to fitting, make sure that the surface of the hole is free of any dirt.

2. The type and amount of firestop board depend on the type of penetration, system and fire resistance. Select the correct type of stone wool board based on the drawings.

3. When installing the boards in plaster walls, the painted side of the board shall be fitted flush to the wall face.

4. When installing single board layer in a wall or concrete structure, the boards may be situated either one-sidedly or in the middle.

5. When installing in the floor, the board must be flush to the bottom face of the floor.

6. Measure the hole and cut the stone wool board to size.

7. All the board edges can be coated using ALFA COAT or ALFA MASTIC prior to installation. This will ensure effective fixing of the seal and full smoke tightness.

8. Insert the appropriate number of boards with proper thickness into the hole according to the drawings in the installation instructions. In the case of using uncoated stone wool boards, after inserting, paint the board so that the stone wool was not visible. Paint the stone wool board minimum twice.

9. Fill any voids using ALFA MASTIC on both sides.

10. ALFA FR BOARD can be painted with majority or alkyd-based paints.

11. When sealing plasterboard shaft walls, seal only on one side. The painted side of the board should be exposed towards expected fire source.
